Done!

Well, it's over. Successful surgery done on Thursday at 10:45 and I was home by 3:30. Now it's time to do some exercises to help range of motion and I was finally able to shower today. First follow up doctor visit is Friday. Too many stories to tell while typing with one hand, so more later. Overall feeling a bit better each day. Loretta has been my Florence Nightengale and is a real champ, changing dressings, helping me dress, and generally being awesome. More later.

  1. I am channeling both Clara Barton and Florence Nightengale. Fortunaly humor has been aiding us all along. In the recovery room a nurse met me to give me some departing instructions. She looked at the two of us and asked what i was giggling about. Mark replied by asking, "What are we NOT giggling about?"
I enjoyed speaking to Mark's donctor post op. He gave me pictures taken inside the shoulder and drew on them where he'd shaved some bone and sewn a tendon together. Fascinating.
So happy that you are recovering smoothly, Mark. I'm here for you!

  2. Hello One-armed Stud Muffin of Love! Marty and I have been thinking of you and sending positive, healing thoughts your way. We've had a house full of family over the weekend (so fun!!) and will still have my parents in town until next weekend.

How the heck are you, my friend? Was the aftermath more painful than you anticipated? Most importantly at this point...how are the drugs? Are you channeling any old concert memories?

We'd like to find a time to come visit - only when you feel ready to see us. I'm hoping to see you in some cowboy pajamas?

Seriously sweets...we're thinking of you and please know we're here to help if you need us for anything or if you need us to come over to give Loretta a break.

  3. I know this says "Joe", it's his account, but it's actually me, Sherry! I'm glad your surgery was a success, and that you seem to be on your way to recovery. That lawn chair looks mighty comfy. Janine had some friends over today for a barbeque, and we will venture up on a trail down the street from our house which has a good view of the T.O. fireworks. Happy 4th, and Happy Recovery!

Glad your surgery was a success and Loretta aren't photos of your hubby's inside fascinating. Here speaks the voice of experience.
    Take care both of you.

  6. Thanks for posting updates. I am sure they will be short ones, with the left hand only. I trust that the recuperation is going smoothly. Call if you need your lawn mowed. I'll send Chris on up. Heehee. No, really, call if you need something. Anything.

  7. So, the angel whispering in my left ear says "write something nice, supportive, and encouraging." But the devil whispering in my right ear says "make an inappropriate wise crack about one-handed dirty deeds." I'm conflicted...

  8. Might be a smart move to have a valid excuse to get out of doing the YMCA during wedding/baseball season. Hope you're back in time to throw things at the TV for Browns season.
